The Zombie is a classic Tiki drink by legendary bartender and restaurateur Donn Beach, of Don the Beachcomber. It’s one of many popular cocktails that were created and served at the fun-loving Hollywood bar, which opened in 1933 and was responsible for kicking off the Tiki craze. Don’t drink more than two … you have been warned!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Dark Jamaican Rum
1 1/2 oz Gold Puerto Rican Rum
1 oz Overproof 151 Demerara Rum
3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Falernum
1 tsp Grenadine
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1/8 Teaspoon (6 drops) Pernod
1/2 oz Don’s Mix (2 parts Grapefruit Juice, *1 part Cinnamon Syrup)
Place the ingredients in a high speed blender or use a cup with a malt mixer … I use an immersion blender. Add crushed ice and blend lightly.
Pour into a Zombie Glass … aka Collins Glass. Garnish with a generous mint sprig.
