At the turn of the Mid-Century the jet set lifestyle was all the rage. Space was the obvious next horizon but for now, just enjoy the ride with a Jet Pilot! It’s a riff on the famous “Zombie” so you might keep your seatbelt fastened and the tray in the upright and locked position!
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Dark Jamaican Rum
- 3/4 oz Overproof 151 Demerara Rum
- 3/4 oz Gold Puerto Rican Rum
- 1/2 oz Cinnamon Syrup
- 1/2 oz Grapefruit Juice, White if available
- 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 1/2 oz Velvet Falernum
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters*
- 1/8 Teaspoon (6 drops) Pernod*
Place the ingredients in a high speed blender or use a cup with a malt mixer … I use an immersion blender. Add 12 oz of crushed ice. Blend until smooth.
Pour into a Double Old Fashioned Glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
* These two items combined is also called Herbstura. It was a pre-mixed secret weapon of Donn the Beachcomber.
